Product description

A safer, lighter, and more durable alternative to glass, this warm white opal 3mm coloured acrylic sheet delivers comparable optical quality with significantly better impact resistance and workability.

The warm white opal pigment is distributed throughout the full 3mm sheet thickness, so cut and machined edges display the same colour as the surface face. Both sides carry a high-gloss polished finish, reducing the need for post-processing in most applications. UV-stable formulation prevents yellowing and colour fade, keeping the sheet looking sharp over extended service life in both interior and exterior settings.

The 3mm sheet is rigid enough for structural panel applications yet light enough for straightforward handling and installation. It can be cut to any shape, drilled, engraved, and thermoformed. Well suited to secondary glazing, greenhouse panels, and light diffuser installations. Bonds with solvent-based acrylic cements for fabricated assemblies. Protective film on both faces.

Properties

Optical & Aesthetic Qualities

  • Consistent colour pigmentation: The warm white opal colour is distributed uniformly throughout the full 3mm sheet thickness, ensuring cut edges display the same colour as the surface face.
  • High-gloss surface finish: Polished on both faces for a smooth, professional appearance straight from the sheet — reducing the need for post-processing.
  • UV stability: Resistant to yellowing and colour fade caused by prolonged UV exposure, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations.

Strength & Durability

  • Impact resistance: Up to 17 times more impact-resistant than standard glass of equivalent thickness. If broken, it fractures into larger, dull-edged pieces rather than dangerous shards.
  • Lightweight: Approximately half the weight of glass, making it easier and safer to transport, handle, and install — particularly for large panel applications.
  • Weather resistance: Performs well in outdoor environments with strong resistance to rain, wind, and temperature fluctuations without warping or degrading.

Workability

  • Machinable: Can be cut, drilled, routed, and polished using standard workshop tools. Compatible with laser cutting and CNC routing for precision fabrication.
  • Thermoformable: Can be heated and bent into curved shapes using a strip heater or oven, enabling bespoke formed components.
  • Bondable: Bonds effectively using solvent-based acrylic adhesives such as Tensol or Extru-Fix for clean, strong joints.

Material Specification

  • Material: Cast acrylic (polymethyl methacrylate / PMMA)
  • Thickness: 3mm
  • Finish: Gloss (both sides)
  • Fire rating: Self-extinguishing, classified to BS 476
  • Operating temperature range: -40°C to +80°C continuous use

Usage

Signage & Displays

  • Retail signage, exhibition stands, and point-of-sale displays benefit from the bold visual impact of warm white opal acrylic. The 3mm thickness provides enough rigidity for freestanding units while remaining easy to fabricate on site.
  • Illuminated sign panels and lightbox fascias use coloured acrylic to produce even light diffusion with vibrant colour saturation.

Interior & Exterior Design

  • Neutral-toned warm white opal acrylic integrates naturally into both residential and commercial interiors. It works well for bathroom panels, kitchen splashbacks, shelving, and furniture where a clean, understated finish is needed.
  • Splashback panels in kitchens and bathrooms offer a hygienic, waterproof surface that is straightforward to clean and maintain.

Glazing & Screening

  • As a glazing material, warm white opal 3mm acrylic suits secondary glazing, shed windows, and greenhouse panels — combining light diffusion with thermal insulation properties superior to standard glass.
  • Protective screens and sneeze guards in retail, hospitality, and healthcare environments benefit from the material’s impact resistance and optical clarity.

Craft, Hobby & Fabrication

  • Laser cutting, CNC routing, and hand fabrication are all achievable with 3mm coloured acrylic. It is widely used for jewellery, awards, trophies, model making, and bespoke gifts.
  • Suitable for thermoforming at controlled temperatures, enabling curved and shaped components for specialist applications.
