Product description

Engineered to stand out, this helios yellow 3mm fluorescent acrylic sheet produces an intense, saturated colour that is significantly brighter than standard coloured acrylic. The distinctive edge glow absorbs ambient light and re-emits it along cut edges for a striking neon-like effect without electrical components.

The fluorescent helios yellow pigment runs through the full 3mm sheet thickness, ensuring cut edges and machined features maintain the same high-intensity colour. Laser cutting produces particularly clean, glowing edges that enhance the fluorescent effect. The material offers the same impact resistance, lightweight handling, and workability as standard cast acrylic — up to 17 times stronger than glass at approximately half the weight.

A first choice for high-visibility signage, safety markers, attention-grabbing retail displays, and creative installations. Fluorescent acrylic is also popular in art, set design, nightclub and bar interiors, and themed environments where UV-reactive materials create dramatic visual effects. Compatible with laser cutting, CNC routing, drilling, and thermoforming. Available cut to size.

Properties

Fluorescent & Optical Properties

  • Edge glow effect: Fluorescent helios yellow acrylic absorbs ambient light and re-emits it along the sheet edges, producing a distinctive neon-like glow without electrical components.
  • UV-reactive: Under ultraviolet or blacklight conditions, fluorescent acrylic intensifies dramatically in colour — making it highly effective for themed environments, nightlife venues, and UV-lit displays.
  • High-visibility colour: The helios yellow pigment is significantly brighter and more saturated than standard coloured acrylic, ensuring maximum visual impact in daylight and artificial lighting.

Strength & Durability

  • Impact resistance: Up to 17 times stronger than glass of equivalent thickness, with safe fracture characteristics.
  • UV stability: The fluorescent pigment is stabilised to resist premature fade, although prolonged direct sunlight exposure may reduce fluorescent intensity over extended periods.
  • Lightweight: Roughly half the weight of glass, making large-format installations practical and safe.

Workability

  • Machinable: Compatible with laser cutting, CNC routing, drilling, and polishing. Laser cutting produces clean, glowing edges that enhance the fluorescent effect.
  • Thermoformable: Can be heated and bent to create curved panels, channel letters, and shaped display components.
  • Bondable: Joins cleanly with solvent-based acrylic cements.

Material Specification

  • Material: Cast acrylic (PMMA) with fluorescent pigment
  • Thickness: 3mm
  • Finish: Fluorescent helios yellow (gloss both sides)
  • Fire rating: Self-extinguishing

Usage

Signage & Visual Impact

  • High-visibility signage: Fluorescent helios yellow acrylic is engineered to stand out. The vivid edge glow and surface colour make it a first choice for safety signage, directional boards, and attention-grabbing retail displays.
  • Illuminated panels and lightboxes: Under ambient and UV lighting, fluorescent acrylic intensifies in colour — producing an eye-catching glow effect that is difficult to achieve with standard coloured sheets.

Retail & Exhibition Displays

  • Point-of-sale and merchandising: Fluorescent helios yellow draws the eye and creates a sense of energy. It is commonly used for product display stands, shelf talkers, price tags, and branded fixtures in fast-paced retail environments.
  • Exhibition and trade show stands: Large-format fluorescent panels help exhibitors stand out in busy show halls and conference venues.

Art, Design & Creative Projects

  • Contemporary art and installations: Artists and designers use fluorescent acrylic for sculptures, light installations, and mixed-media artwork. The edge-glow effect adds a distinctive neon-like quality without electrical components.
  • Interior features: Feature shelving, decorative screens, and furniture accents in fluorescent helios yellow create bold design statements in commercial and residential spaces.

Safety & Identification

  • The high visibility of fluorescent acrylic makes it useful for hazard markers, safety barriers, and colour-coded identification systems in warehouse, industrial, and educational settings.
