15mm Black Coloured Acrylic
From £0.72
Premium 15mm black cast acrylic sheet — polished both sides, colour runs through the full sheet depth. Shatterproof, weather-resistant, and compatible with laser cutting, CNC routing, and thermoforming.
Product description
The deep black tone brings a refined, contemporary feel to any installation. This 15mm coloured acrylic sheet is UV-stable, weather-resistant, and built to perform in both indoor and outdoor environments.
This black cast acrylic is polished on both faces and pigmented through the full 15mm thickness for a consistent, professional finish on every exposed surface and edge. It will not yellow, fade, or degrade when exposed to UV light, rain, or temperature fluctuations — performing reliably in indoor and outdoor environments year-round.
Suitable for shopfront fascias, exhibition backdrops, and minimalist furniture components. This 15mm sheet can be cut to your exact dimensions, drilled, CNC-routed, laser-cut, and thermoformed for curved components. It bonds cleanly with solvent-based acrylic adhesives and can be polished to restore edge clarity after cutting. Supplied with a protective film on both faces.
Properties
Optical & Aesthetic Qualities
- Consistent colour pigmentation: The black colour is distributed uniformly throughout the full 15mm sheet thickness, ensuring cut edges display the same colour as the surface face.
- High-gloss surface finish: Polished on both faces for a smooth, professional appearance straight from the sheet — reducing the need for post-processing.
- UV stability: Resistant to yellowing and colour fade caused by prolonged UV exposure, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations.
Strength & Durability
- Impact resistance: Up to 17 times more impact-resistant than standard glass of equivalent thickness. If broken, it fractures into larger, dull-edged pieces rather than dangerous shards.
- Lightweight: Approximately half the weight of glass, making it easier and safer to transport, handle, and install — particularly for large panel applications.
- Weather resistance: Performs well in outdoor environments with strong resistance to rain, wind, and temperature fluctuations without warping or degrading.
Workability
- Machinable: Can be cut, drilled, routed, and polished using standard workshop tools. Compatible with laser cutting and CNC routing for precision fabrication.
- Thermoformable: Can be heated and bent into curved shapes using a strip heater or oven, enabling bespoke formed components.
- Bondable: Bonds effectively using solvent-based acrylic adhesives such as Tensol or Extru-Fix for clean, strong joints.

Usage
Signage & Displays
- Retail signage, exhibition stands, and point-of-sale displays benefit from the bold visual impact of black acrylic. The 15mm thickness provides enough rigidity for freestanding units while remaining easy to fabricate on site.
- Illuminated sign panels and lightbox fascias use coloured acrylic to produce even light diffusion with vibrant colour saturation.
Interior & Exterior Design
- Dark-toned acrylic in black is well suited to modern interior schemes. It works particularly well as kitchen splashbacks, furniture panels, and decorative wall features where a sleek, contemporary aesthetic is required.
- Splashback panels in kitchens and bathrooms offer a hygienic, waterproof surface that is straightforward to clean and maintain.
Glazing & Screening
- As a tinted glazing alternative, black 15mm acrylic reduces visible light transmission while maintaining UV stability — ideal for privacy screens, room dividers, and shopfront glazing.
- Protective screens and sneeze guards in retail, hospitality, and healthcare environments benefit from the material’s impact resistance and optical clarity.
Craft, Hobby & Fabrication
- Laser cutting, CNC routing, and hand fabrication are all achievable with 15mm coloured acrylic. It is widely used for jewellery, awards, trophies, model making, and bespoke gifts.
- Suitable for thermoforming at controlled temperatures, enabling curved and shaped components for specialist applications.
