Product description

Delivering up to 17 times the impact resistance of glass at roughly half the weight, this dense white 3mm coloured acrylic sheet is engineered for both performance and aesthetics.

Manufactured as a cast acrylic, this dense white sheet offers superior optical qualities and machining characteristics compared to extruded alternatives. The colour runs through the full 3mm thickness — meaning laser-cut edges, drilled holes, and routed profiles all maintain the same consistent dense white tone. UV-resistant properties protect against discolouration from prolonged sun exposure.

Beyond visual impact, this dense white acrylic is practical to work with — it cuts cleanly with standard workshop tools, lasers, and CNC machines, and can be heated and bent into curved shapes for bespoke installations. The 3mm gauge suits residential renovations, commercial fit-outs, and retail display environments. Supplied with protective film and available in custom dimensions.

Properties

Optical & Aesthetic Qualities

  • Consistent colour pigmentation: The dense white colour is distributed uniformly throughout the full 3mm sheet thickness, ensuring cut edges display the same colour as the surface face.
  • High-gloss surface finish: Polished on both faces for a smooth, professional appearance straight from the sheet — reducing the need for post-processing.
  • UV stability: Resistant to yellowing and colour fade caused by prolonged UV exposure, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations.

Strength & Durability

  • Impact resistance: Up to 17 times more impact-resistant than standard glass of equivalent thickness. If broken, it fractures into larger, dull-edged pieces rather than dangerous shards.
  • Lightweight: Approximately half the weight of glass, making it easier and safer to transport, handle, and install — particularly for large panel applications.
  • Weather resistance: Performs well in outdoor environments with strong resistance to rain, wind, and temperature fluctuations without warping or degrading.

Workability

  • Machinable: Can be cut, drilled, routed, and polished using standard workshop tools. Compatible with laser cutting and CNC routing for precision fabrication.
  • Thermoformable: Can be heated and bent into curved shapes using a strip heater or oven, enabling bespoke formed components.
  • Bondable: Bonds effectively using solvent-based acrylic adhesives such as Tensol or Extru-Fix for clean, strong joints.

Material Specification

  • Material: Cast acrylic (polymethyl methacrylate / PMMA)
  • Thickness: 3mm
  • Finish: Gloss (both sides)
  • Fire rating: Self-extinguishing, classified to BS 476
  • Operating temperature range: -40°C to +80°C continuous use

Usage

Signage & Displays

  • Retail signage, exhibition stands, and point-of-sale displays benefit from the bold visual impact of dense white acrylic. The 3mm thickness provides enough rigidity for freestanding units while remaining easy to fabricate on site.
  • Illuminated sign panels and lightbox fascias use coloured acrylic to produce even light diffusion with vibrant colour saturation.

Interior & Exterior Design

  • Neutral-toned dense white acrylic integrates naturally into both residential and commercial interiors. It works well for bathroom panels, kitchen splashbacks, shelving, and furniture where a clean, understated finish is needed.
  • Splashback panels in kitchens and bathrooms offer a hygienic, waterproof surface that is straightforward to clean and maintain.

Glazing & Screening

  • As a glazing material, dense white 3mm acrylic suits secondary glazing, shed windows, and greenhouse panels — combining light diffusion with thermal insulation properties superior to standard glass.
  • Protective screens and sneeze guards in retail, hospitality, and healthcare environments benefit from the material’s impact resistance and optical clarity.

Craft, Hobby & Fabrication

  • Laser cutting, CNC routing, and hand fabrication are all achievable with 3mm coloured acrylic. It is widely used for jewellery, awards, trophies, model making, and bespoke gifts.
  • Suitable for thermoforming at controlled temperatures, enabling curved and shaped components for specialist applications.
