Product description

3mm Traffic Grey Aluminium Composite can be machined and folded to adapt to a variety of projects.

These sheets have excellent impact, corrosion and weather resistant qualities making them ideal for outdoor installations.

Consisting of a polyethylene core and aluminium skin, this rigid substrate provides the perfect background for any print job.

ACM is stocked in a wide range of colours with a dual sided gloss/matt finish for versatile options.

This material has achieved a minimum of a class C fire rating, datasheets available upon request.

Properties

Aluminium composites are lightweight yet strong, offering a good strength-to-weight ratio, and are known for being rigid, flat, and corrosion-resistant. Other key properties include dimensional stability, weather and UV resistance, and a customizable surface that is easy to machine and finish. These materials are also often moisture-proof, chemically resistant, and have good heat and fire resistance.

Key properties

  • Strength and rigidity: Despite being lightweight, aluminium composites are very strong and rigid, providing excellent dimensional stability and resistance to impact and warping.
  • Lightweight: They are significantly lighter than solid aluminium or steel, making them easier to handle, transport, and install.
  • Corrosion and weather resistance: Their composite structure makes them resistant to corrosion, moisture, and UV rays, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use in various climates.
  • Machinability: They are easy to cut, drill, and shape using standard tools, which is ideal for custom fabrication.
  • Customisable surface: The surface can be easily finished with paint, powder coating, lamination, or direct printing, making them versatile for design purposes.
  • Durability: The combination of durable outer aluminium skins and a strong core make them impact-resistant and long-lasting.
  • Fire resistance: Some aluminium composites achieve good fire safety classifications, meaning they are difficult to ignite and produce minimal smoke.

Usage

Aluminium composite panels are used extensively in construction and signage due to their lightweight, rigid, and durable nature. They are commonly used for exterior and interior cladding, fascias, and decorative elements in buildings. In the signage industry, they are used for post-mounted signs, shop fronts, and POS displays.

Building and construction

  • Wall cladding: Used for both interior and exterior walls, providing a modern and sleek finish.
  • Elevator panels: Used in both elevator interiors and exteriors.
  • Ceilings and partitions: Employed in false ceilings and for creating partitions.
  • Rain screens: Used as an outer protective layer on buildings.
  • Roofing: Can be used for canopies, pergolas, and roofing structures.

Signage and advertising

  • Post-mounted signs: A common choice for durability and ease of handling.
  • Shop fascias and frontages: Provides a professional and modern look for storefronts.
  • Point-of-sale (POS) displays: Used for creating attractive and versatile retail displays.
  • Billboards: Suitable for large-scale advertising and outdoor use.

Other applications

  • Cabinets and furniture: Used for creating lightweight, modern furniture and kitchen cabinets.
  • Industrial use: Used for machine coverings and in shipping container construction.
  • DIY projects: The material is easy to work with, making it popular for various smaller projects.
